This one day workshop is designed for entry level risk managers and experienced risk managers seeking updates on regulatory changes and innovations impacting the practice of healthcare risk management.  The workshop provides a context for the application of theory to practice in the real world and is organized around the functional areas of responsibility for risk managers working in various settings across the healthcare spectrum.  Topics include: the changing nature of healthcare, implications of recent legislative changes, management of adverse events, conducting an investigation, implementation of loss prevention and reduction strategies, risk financing, claims management, regulatory compliance and enterprise risk management.

Learning Objectives Include:

  •          Identifying skills and competencies of the successful risk management professional.
  •          Defining risk management and describing the organizational relationships of the risk management program.
  •          Examining the regulatory relationships that affect a risk management program and accessing appropriate resources to  remain current with requirements.
  •          Identifying the components of a strong, effective risk management program, including risk financing and the claims management process.
  •          Analyzing the process for investigation and management of an adverse event including the connection to quality improvement and ERM efforts.
