FSHRMPS Committee Opportunities

The Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management and Patient Safety is a member driven organization and as such there are multiple opportunities for our members to volunteer on either one of our society committees or on a specific strategic initiative.

The Advocacy Committee provides input to the Board of Directors on legislative, administrative, and regulatory activities which impact healthcare risk management and patient safety. The committee also works to develop a collaborative relationship with American Society for Health Care Risk Management Advocacy Committee and relevant committees of other healthcare professional organizations with similar legislative and regulatory concerns.

The Audit Committee is comprised of three members at large appointed by the President and approved by the Board of Directors. The committee is responsible for reviewing the end of the year financial reports and reconciling them with the fiscal tax returns and the organizational budget.

The Bylaws Committee is responsible for reviewing the Bylaws and Professional Code of Responsibility at least annually and for recommending necessary changes or revisions to the Board and the general membership. The committee will also review all operational policies and procedures as directed by the Board and consider term limits for Board and other officer positions.

The Communications Committee is responsible for providing to both the Society and ASHRM materials suitable for inclusion in their respective electronic and print newsletters and other publications.

The Education Committee is responsible for planning and promoting educational offerings and programs, to include the monthly webinar series, the annual conference program, and other materials related to the current concepts of healthcare risk management, patient safety, risk financing and claims management.

The Nominations Committee is responsible for identifying and submitting a slate of candidates for President Elect, Treasurer, Secretary, Board of Directors, and the Nominations Committee.

The Membership Outreach Committee is responsible for working with the society staff on outreach to potential members and initiatives designed to improve membership retention rates through increased member value and society participation.
