The Florida Society for Healthcare Risk Management and Patient Safety (FSHRMPS) and ACHE of Central Florida are pleased to announce that the two organizations will co-host an Online Panel Discussion on January 28, 2021 from 5:30- 7PM EST to focus on the topic of Creating a Culture of Patient Safety.   

According to the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI), preventable harm in health care remains a major concern in the United States and Reducing preventable harm requires a concerted, persistent, coordinated effort by all stakeholders, and a total systems approach to safety. 

During this presentation panelist will offer insights on the current status of patient safety in Florida and the AHCE / IHI “Safer Together” Action Plant to Advance Patient Safety.   

Topics will include: 

  • Adverse incidents and preventable harm in Florida.
  • New Florida laws that require publicly reported patient safety metrics and culture of patient safety surveys. 
  • Workforce safety issues likely to be addressed during the 2021 Florida Legislative Session. 
  • Strategies for promoting safety as a “core value” and developing shared safety goals across the continuum. 
  • Challenges of re-committing to patient safety in the COVID 19 era.

This meeting has been approved for a total of 1.5 contact hours of Continuing Education Credit toward fulfillment of the requirements of ASHRM designations of FASHRM (Fellow) and DFASHRM (Distinguished Fellow) and towards CPHRM renewal.
