This program is designed for risk management, patient safety and quality professionals who are seeking to develop the skills necessary to transition from management to leadership.  The program provides a framework for understanding and practicing leadership, while highlighting fundamental skills needed to lead risk management and or patient safety initiatives in today’s complex healthcare system. Participants receive practical strategies for strengthening leadership and collaboration skills. Participants who enroll in the Leadership Academy will have access to an online Leadership Development Toolkit and will be asked to review reading material and conduct a Leadership Development Inventory in advance of the academy.

10:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Case Study & Online Discussion, Candace Eden   

 (Optional Online Session) - Developing an Action Learning Project, Haresh Ramjas

All participants who complete the pre-session Leadership Development Inventory and the two-day online program will receive CE’s for their participation in the program.  Upon completion of the Leadership Academy, participants will have the option to attend an online session aimed at translating the content from the academy into an action learning project proposal that can be submitted in exchange for a Certificate.  Leadership Academy participants who actually conduct an action learning project are encouraged to present their projects as a poster session at the FSHRMPS Annual Meeting & Education Conference.


The program has been approved by the Florida Board of Nursing for 2 CE Hours (Medical Error),2 CE Hours (Legal Aspects of Nursing) and 2 CE Hours (General).
